Astron Mythbusters
 


This week we’re debuting a new Astronology feature called Astron Mythbusters.  Periodically we’ll examine common misperceptions in the HR world and explore the reality behind those thoughts.  Watch out Discovery Channel!

Employees often indicate their primary reason for leaving an organization to work elsewhere is higher pay.  This is not true, according to research conducted by Astron Solutions on over 7,600 confidential exit interviews.  25.1% of those interviews listed their reason for leaving as a category we call “life happens,” 14.2% listed change of career objectives, 9.3% listed dissatisfaction with supervisor, and 8.0% listed partner’s relocation.  Only 7.9% of respondents listed pay as a reason for leaving.

This and other issues are explored during Astron Solutions National Director, Jennifer Loftus’ presentation titled “I Said It Was The Money…But I Lied.”  Session participants discover the true reasons why employees leave organizations, as well as explore pitfalls to avoid when designing an exit interview system.  Jennifer discusses proactive strategies to combat undesired employee turnover. The EEO-1 report is submitted to the EEOC and the Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).
